A charity-run preschool is “so pleased” after receiving two new storage units from Rapid Racking to help support its educational activities and provide children with “a sense of belonging”.

Ashton Keynes Preschool was running out of space to store its classroom activities. As a charity-run group, the village preschool partly relies on fundraising and donations to further enrich the classroom’s facilities.

Preschool manager Fliss Harris has been running the preschool for nine years. She said: “We are a charity-run preschool set in a small village. We have a strong belief that quality childcare should be accessible to all so we don’t charge extra fees above government funding and provide staffing above the government-set ratios to support our vision of supporting every child to reach their full potential.

“This does however mean we have to do a lot of fundraising each year, especially with the increasing gap between costs and government funding.”

The additional storage has given pupils their own drawer

In an effort to acquire more storage options, with a particular aim to give each pupil their own drawer space, Fliss contacted Rapid Racking. Tom Ellis, Head of Product and Services, sourced two mobile storage units to donate to the preschool.

The children now all have their own drawer where they can put their pictures to take home and give them a sense of belonging

Tom said: “We understand the need for storage and how it can improve the functionality of a busy space. So, it’s always a pleasure when we can help charity-run organisations, like Ashton Keynes Preschool, continue the fantastic work they do.”

Between the two mobile units, the classroom now has individual trays for the children and additional storage space for art materials – including a lockable cupboard to keep messier supplies, such as glitter and paint, out of reach of the children.

Fliss added: “The children now all have their own drawer where they can put their pictures to take home and give them a sense of belonging.

“Rapid Racking also provided a large cabinet where we now keep all of our art materials which also has drawers down the side providing easy access for the children to choose their own craft materials to create their wonderful works of art.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to Rapid Racking.”
