Stephanie Down is a logistics operator at Rapid Racking and is currently the only female employee in the warehouse, among a thirty strong team of men. On this International Women’s Day, she tells us what life is like in the UK subsidiary, which specializes in shelving and storage solutions.

Stephanie, tell us about your career path at Rapid Racking…

I recently joined the company as a logistics operator. After a few weeks as a temp, I had the opportunity to sign a permanent contract in September.

As a female employee in the warehouse, what is your average working day like?

I try to be as versatile as possible: I prepare orders, drive forklift trucks, stock the products… It’s a demanding job and I really put my all into it, but I know I can always count on my colleagues if I need help with carrying heavy loads for example.

As I learn more and more about the world of logistics, I realize that women can perform these everyday tasks just as much as men can. It’s just a matter of practice and keeping at it, like exercising or sports training!

Which values resonate with you the most?

Among the new values of the Manutan Group, this one really reflects my day-to-day: ‘At Manutan, we love Relationships & Care.’ Every day, we give the best of ourselves so that the work is done well and our customers are satisfied. There is true commitment and a wonderfully supportive team spirit.”

Thank you to Stephanie for speaking to us and putting equality in the spotlight! This is a key theme within our Group as we believe that our strength lies in the diversity of our employees.
