Wooden workbenches\ndon\u2019t come with instructions and you would need to source all the materials\nyourself, which can be expensive if you\u2019re looking to make a solid timber\nworkbench that should stand the test of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choosing a metal workbench usually involves spending\nless money on parts and fewer hours on manufacturing. This option also gives\nyou the ability to move or dismantle your workbench with complete ease in the\nfuture – an often underplayed advantage not enjoyed by traditional solid wood\nworkbenches. How to build a garage workbench<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although there are different options in terms of the\ntype of workbench or workstation you\u2019re choosing to build, most of them share\nthe feature of not needing screws during assembly. Instead, each part is built\nto slot together, making it easy to build whilst maintaining sufficient\nstrength and durability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instructions for building a metal garage workbench are\nas follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Stand all four legs in a rectangular formation, fitting rubber feet to them to provide additional support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Align the long pieces of metal used for creating shelves with the legs of the workbench and push the metal prongs at the end of the long pieces into the holes in the legs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. After checking that the pieces of metal are straight, hammer the prongs into place with a heavy-duty mallet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    Traditionally, vices have holes drilled in either side\nwhich house screws, making it easy to attach to a wooden workbench.     As a way of providing extra storage for people with a\nlot of tools and equipment, many workbenches and workstations come with\nadditional drawers. Metal workstations usually come with a draw that can be\nbuilt separately before being installed in the middle of the workstation. These\nare typically held up by small brackets in the legs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It\u2019s also possible to find workstation drawers which\narrive preassembled, ready for attachment as soon as you\u2019ve constructed your\nworkstation to the desired height. However, there are many different types of\nworkstations and workbenches, as well as a lot of different types of drawers\nfor storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Both basic workbenches<\/a> and heavy-duty workstations<\/a> usually possess drawers, but you could also consider a compact workbench<\/a>, a mobile workbench<\/a>, a tool station<\/a> or if you\u2019re only looking at using your workstation for small repairs, a cupboard<\/a> to provide a mass of storage options for your convenience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
